Family…

One of the core values of HeartLife Ministries is to support the nuclear family. However, we provide support for more than that demographic. We recognize that there are all types of families today, some children live with only one parent; some live with their grandparent or other relative; and some live in prescribed foster homes. Whatever the situation, we believe in supporting the structure that is taking care of the next generation. Our Father God was always concerned about the Word of God being passed down from generation to generation:

Children are often curious as to who were the people who came before them. They also at some point want to know where they are from. Herein is the time to sit them down and tell them their history. Unfortunately the history of some chldlren is spotted, and can’t be traced in a linear fashion. This is where the good news comes in. For if we are a believer we can point to the liberty received by the children of God when they crossed over the Jordan from Egypt into the promised land. Because we are adopted by the King of Kings we can point to the beginnings of our liberation from slavery to freedom.

20 And when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What mean the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which the Lord our God hath commanded you?

21 Then thou shalt say unto thy son, We were Pharaoh’s bondmen in Egypt; and the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand:

22 And the Lord shewed signs and wonders, great and sore, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his household, before our eyes:

23 And he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he sware unto our fathers.

24 And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.

25 And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the Lord our God, as he hath commanded us. Deuteronomy 6:20-25 (KJV)

There are other highlights in our history, peculiar to certain racial and ethnic groups. The Emancipation Proclamation ended slavery for African Americans in the United States of America. Other ethnic groups can point to other days as when they received equal opportunity and economic freedom.

Yet economic freedom and human freedom is not enough. In order for families to prosper, and truly walk in freedom, there is another kind of freedom that must be pursued. It is the greatest of all freedoms:

36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. John 8:36 (KJV)

This kind of freedom causes families to grow and to stick together. It causes communities to prosper and thrive and our children to KNOW who they are and WHOSE we are;

Maria
