Ah – It’s a New Year!
After taking some time off for some much needed rest, I am anxious to go forward in this new year. If I were to take a word for this year I believe it would be “possibilities“! As I searched for a scripture connected, I had to use a synonym – opportunity:
Conduct yourself with wisdom in your interactions with outsiders (non-believers), make the most of each opportunity [treating it as something precious]. Let your speech at all times be gracious and pleasant, seasoned with salt, so that you will know how to answer each one [who questions you].Colossians 4:5-6(AMP)
Although this scripture is limited to how we interact with non-believers, I believe it has something for our every action. For in everything we do, we need to conduct ourselves with wisdom – it doesn’t matter what we are doing. In every interaction with others, non-believers, or believers, or the sales clerk who waits on you, our speech should be gracious and pleasant.
There should never be one personality and resulting action given to one group of people, and something entirely different for another. If we claim the Name of Christ, then our name is (substitute your first name here) Christ – period. For we not only represent the Lord Jesus Christ, but He is living within us. We now have His DNA and therefore it should show in whatever we do and say.
Today is a good time to reflect on our conduct, how we may need to refine our speech, our habits, even our secret thoughts and desires. If we are going to go after the vast and many possibilities of this year, we need our energy coming directly from the Creator of all – for only He knows the best path for us to take.
Happy New Year,
Maria
