Bankrupt Without Love!
In America today the median national income is about $59,000. The poverty rate declined to around twelve percent of the population. While this does not discount that there are people suffering in America, the facts are that we as a nation of people are making more money than ever, whether we are living in our means or not. Yet, high salaries and opulent lifestyles don’t reflect your bank account in the Kingdom of God. In fact 1 Corinthians 13: 7 (MSG) says:
So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.
The calling card, the resume, our financial dozier, all our personal reflections add up to nothing unless we have love. Thus it paramount that we understand what love is:
Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always "me first,"
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.
As we go down this list, how much can you check off to include in your personal profile? And after you checked the list, can you give an example?
