Check Your Love Language!

There are times in all of our lives when we feel as if our communication with God is not the same, that there is a wall of divide keeping us from the intimacy we once knew.  During those times it is good to "examine ourselves to see whether we are in the faith".  It may just be we are in a testing period, remember the teacher does not speak during the test! At other times it may be that we have become lax in our attitude and behavior towards others. It is at times like these when we need to go on a fast as suggested in Isaiah 58: 7-9 (The Voice):

A fast for Me involves sharing your food with people who have none,
giving those who are homeless a space in your home,
Giving clothes to those who need them, and not neglecting your own family.

⁸ Then, oh then, your light will break out like the warm, golden rays of a rising sun;
in an instant, you will be healed.
Your rightness will precede and protect you;
the glory of the Eternal will follow and defend you.
⁹ Then when you do call out, "My God, Where are You?"
The Eternal One will answer, "I am here, I am here."
If you remove the yoke of oppression from the downtrodden among you,
stop accusing others, and do away with mean and inflammatory speech,

The above admonition does not just apply to those we love, but it applies to the unloveable as well. We often feel justified ignoring or even casting aside those people who have been difficult or mean to us. We feel as if we it is ok to have an attitude and aloof behavior, that God understands. While God does understand, He never condones bad behavior and expects us to become conformable to both HIs will and HIs way, particularly as begin to grow and mature. So the next time there appear to be a disconnect in your intimacy with the Father, check your love language, you may need to add to your vocabulary.
