Continuing With Questions…

Yesterday we began to address some questions as to why Resurrection Sunday and Christmas are the two most celebrated days in Christendom. Yesterday we saw that Jesus, God’s Son, was purposed to come to save mankind from their sin even as early as the third chapter in Genesis, the first book of the Bible. He is the "who", but then "why" was it necessary.

First of all God is holy:

Lift up the Eternal our God in your heart; bow down to the earth where He rests His feet. He is holy, perfect and exalted in His power. Psalm 99:5 (The Voice)

As a holy God, He deserves all honor and all respect; He deserves our commitment and our love. Yet, although God desires these things from us, He never forces Himself upon us. He wants our love, but He requires our obedience. God asked only one thing of Adam and Eve, not to eat of the tree of life in the garden. They failed at that one thing. This brought sin in the world – sin, being anything against the will of God. All men since Adam have continued with this sin, brought forth by their very nature.

God’s love for mankind remained however, and He promised a way for that sin nature to be eradicated. He planned from the garden, where sin first entered the world for HIs Son to come and break the power of sin and death:

For the law of the Spirit of life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has set you free from the law of sin and of death. Romans 8:2 (AMP)

Jesus, was the only One who came to this earth and lived on this earth not as God, but as a God man:

"Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last [absolute Deity, the Son of God], ¹⁸and the Ever-living One [living in and beyond all time and space]. I died, but see, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of [absolute control and victory over] death and of Hades (the realm of the dead). Revelation 1:17-18 (AMP)

What man could never do, God sent His Son, His only Son into the world to do:

³So also we [whether Jews or Gentiles], when we were children (spiritually immature), were kept like slaves under the elementary [man-made religious or philosophical] teachings of the world. ⁴But when [in God’s plan] the proper time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the [regulations of the] Law, ⁵so that He might redeem and liberate those who were under the Law, that we [who believe] might be adopted as sons [as God’s children with all rights as fully grown members of a family]. Galatians 4:3-5 (AMP)
