Don’t Hinder the Pain…
In our contemporary society, there s one thing that man has tried to eradicate – that is pain. There are all kinds of remedies to stop the pain. As one who has had eight children without surgery, I can attest to the fact that although I wanted something to relieve the pain for every child, there were extenuating circumstances with some of the births that necessitated me having to endure long periods of pain. That pain was excruciating, but it served a purpose, and without it, the labor would have taken longer.
The teacher in Proverbs had this to say about pain:
Even when you laugh, your heart can be hurting. And your joy can end in sadness. Proverbs 14:13 (NIV)
How many of us hide our pain with laughter? How many us hide behind our sadness with a false kind of joy?
Few of us are transparent enough, or maybe I should say comfortable enough to reveal the depths of our heart before a cruel world. We are not by nature, gluttons for punishment. The best person could have the tendency to tread upon our heart, so we protect ourselves by hiding behind our laughter and even being the life of the party.
While I am not suggesting that we unveil the depths of our heart to everyone; there is One we need to share it with – yes – the Father. Not only does He already know about it, but He is right beside you and wants to walk through that pain with you. Just as the nurse or doctor is beside the woman travailing in prayer, saying, “don’t scream, don’t holler, stop trying to get up”; instead they tell you when the next pain comes, ride with it, breathe through it, let it do its; work.
We must let pain do it’s’ work. There are some things we have to go through, in order to open our spirit up to let God in. As long as there is seedtime and harvest on this earth, there will be pain. However, there will come a time when there will be no more pain:
“…and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be death; there will no longer be sorrow and anguish, or crying, or pain; for the former order of things has passed away.”Revelation 21:4 (AMP)
When that time of the new order of things comes forth, there will be no more pain. Until then, let pain have its’ perfect work.
