Everything Depends Upon Your Vantage Point!
This morning I heard a song taken from Psalm 3 that for years have resonated in my heart:
Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.
2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.
3 But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
4 I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah. Psalm 3:1-4 (KJV)
What a comfort when I read or hear those words. There are too many times that the report that comes from the world, our flesh, and of course the devil is that there is no hope for us. We have passed our time of opportunity, we have sinned too badly, no one sees any potential in us, we just can’t get a chance… Yes, there are countless voices that rise up and say, ‘"here is no help for him in God".
Yet, look at the next line, the comfort, the hope, the breath of strength: "but thou,O Lord, art a shield for me, my glory and the lifter up of mine head". Yes, sometimes it only takes "lifting up our eyes unto the hills from whence cometh our help, our help comes from the Lord, maker of heaven and earth" Psalm 121:1-2(KJV)
Everything depends upon your vantage point. Looking down prevents seeing not only what can be, but it also prevents you from seeing what is! For right before us, on our darkest day is a road that will lead us out of the wilderness. God is not a God who wants to keep you imprisoned in a state of helplessness, all He needs to hear is our voice cry out to HIm; He will come out of His holy hill and grant us the help we need.
