Hope Was Born This Day!
Of all the things that could be said about this day, one of the greatest things I believe is the truth that hope was born this day:
For the law has never made anyone perfect, but in its place is a far better hope which gives us confidence to experience intimacy with God! HEBREWS 7:19 (TPT)
For thousand of years mankind tried to save themselves. When they couldn’t, they worshipped the sun, the rivers, the animals, you name it – wood, stone, fire – nothing helped them receive what they wanted. For even if by some magic the sun or the rivers or fire could render them a temporary fix, it would be just that – temporary! For the longing in man’s soul was deeply rooted by the God who made them. The wisest man on earth had this to say:
He has made everything beautiful and appropriate in its time. He has also planted eternity [a sense of divine purpose] in the human heart [a mysterious longing which nothing under the sun can satisfy, except God]—yet man cannot find out (comprehend, grasp) what God has done (His overall plan) from the beginning to the end. Ecclesiastes 3:11 (AMP)
Thus, we have a restlessness that keeps searching for something to satisfy. We wander around trying one thing after another, only to find that this deep longing won’t go away. Most of us have to arrive at a state of hopelessness before we look up and see that in fact there is a bright shining light that ushers in hope – for that peace is not something that arrives before we make a decision – it happens after:
For it is by grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God; Ephesians 2;8 (AMP)
We are able to begin this journey because somewhere we grab a hold to hope – and that hope continues to grow as continue on our journey for we find:
2 Through Him we also have access by faith into this [remarkable state of] grace in which we [firmly and safely and securely] stand. Let us rejoice in our hope and the confident assurance of [experiencing and enjoying] the glory of [our great] God [the manifestation of His excellence and power]. 3 And not only this, but [with joy] let us exult in our sufferings and rejoice in our hardships, knowing that hardship (distress, pressure, trouble) produces patient endurance; 4 and endurance, proven character (spiritual maturity); and proven character, hope and confident assurance [of eternal salvation]. 5 Such hope [in God’s promises] never disappoints us, because God’s love has been abundantly poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Romans 5:2-4(AMP)
Yes we have eternal hope in the promises of God, all because hope was born this ay!
