I Understand This More and More…

There are some scriptures, while you may know they are true, you don’t want to think about them. You would rather leave them to the Paul or Peter who wrote them. Such was the case for many years with the following;

But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God. Acts 20:24 (NLT)

When you are young and married, having children, your life is full of friends and activities, you don’t want to think that you are useless and possibly not worth living unless you are doing something that is related to your faith. Even if you value the faith you have been given, you want it all – faith, and….a full rich life. You don’t see one as being more important than the other. (Let’s tell the truth saints and stay in the church!)

As you age however, and the children go, changes take place in your personal life, sometimes even those close to you pass on – you re-assess your life and you begin to take an account to just what is important. Hopefully, our walk with Christ has grown to the extent that we recognize that all that we are and all that we have and all that we ever will be, is because of the grace of God and the finished work of Christ. Hence, you might look at Acts 20:24 and see it different, you might begin to see it applies to you.

I don’t know about you , but I am so grateful for the love of a God who has stayed with me through so many stages of my life. If had been me, being God, looking at me, there would have been so many times I would have said, leave her- she just doesn’t get it.

But oh the riches of the mercy of God, surely His ways are past finding out. So we have gotten a little wiser and in this stage of life we recognize that only what we do for Christ will last-and our prayer becomes let Christ be glorified in all that I do and say.

Maria
