It’s Our Birthday!
Each and every day multitudes of people all over the world share the same birth date. On today, January 15th it is perhaps best known as the birth date of noted world leader, Dr. Martin Luther King. Scores of books have been written on this great man, yet the message he gave was simple and perhaps can be summed up in words that he himself penned:
"I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear." Dr. Martin Luther King Jr
- I grew up with the words of this great man helping to shape my worldview. After his untimely death, not only did the civil rights movement shift, so did I. Many of my peer group became disenchanted with the slow progress of a resistance movement based on love and took up more drastic philosophies. Just when I began to embrace some of these ideologies I came to face to face with another notable, who also embraced a philosophical position based on love – HIs name is Jesus. This Man also met an untimely death, but unlike Dr. King – this Man got up from the grave and lives forevermore compelling us to embrace a love that can defeat any foe.
Nine years ago this month, HeartLife Ministries began posting daily from Monday to Friday a message based on the power of love as found in the greatest Book ever written – the Holy Scriptures. Although we see many problems besetting our world, we believed that the greatest prescription is found in the eternal, life-changing Word of God. NINE YEARS LATER, WE ARE EVEN MORE CONVINCED THAT THE MOST POWERFUL, MOST EFFECTIVE, MOST LIFE CHANGING WORLDVIEW AND WORLD CURE IS FOUND IN THE SIXTY-SIX BOOKS OF THE BIBLE. In honor of our birthday, we are moving our website to www.heartlifetoday.org.
Psalm 2:1-4 says:
1-6 Why the big noise, nations?
Why the mean plots, peoples?
Earth-leaders push for position,
Demagogues and delegates meet for summit talks,
The God-deniers, the Messiah-defiers:
"Let’s get free of God!
God answered them by saying in verses 7-9 of the same Psalm:
Let me tell you what God said next.
He said, "You’re my son,
And today is your birthday.
What do you want? Name it:
Nations as a present? continents as a prize?
You can command them all to dance for you,
- God asked Jesus what He wanted on His birthday – He asked Him to name it…that He would even command the nations to dance for Him. I’m asking God, on this our birthday to continue to bless HIs Word that it might cover all the earth and encourage hearts and change lives. Will you join me in this request?
