Keeping It Real!
There are times when it seems as if you run into people that rub you the wrong way. Whether they exhibit something that reflects something in you, or whether it is something that you just don’t like – it can present you with a negative feeling. If you’re like me, when that happens, I undoubtedly come across a message – from of all places – God’s Word:
Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude. 1 Peter 3:8 (NLT)
It doesn’t take a lot of words to get the message over – God wants us to love, everyone, all the time, with a humble heart. We may not like their attitudes, we may not like their characteristics, or the way they chew gum. None of that matters if we want to exhibit the One who brought love into our life. Jesus radiated love – and not just love – but compassion and understanding – and open arms. He was willing to embrace ALL – those who are lovable and those who are not.
I so admire people who are always on an even keel, never showing a negative emotion to those they come in contact with. They are able to be open and friendly and concerned about them, even if that person shows negativity toward them. It really isn’t a credit to them, except that they have opened up the doors of their heart to let the Savior in – to live in and through them – not reserving their right to be anything other than what He wants them to be.
That opportunity is available to all of us. Admittedly some of us take a little longer opening the doors all the way wide- that is the part that is real. Yet closed doors not only limit the Holy Spirit from moving through you, it limits the blessings that can get to you! And when you think about that, isn’t it worth making sure all the doors of your heart are wide open?
Maria
AMEN good word from God’s Word Maria!
It’s not so easy but I believe it’s an opportunity for growth
Help me lord to see people as you see them
Good stuff! And everyday God allows us to wake up is an opportunity to become that person. Purify my heart Lord!
