Looking to Plant a Crop!

While we are deep in the throes of winter, it is not too early to think of what we would like to plant in our garden. In fact, as we enter the big box stores we find that even now they are filled with beautiful plants to bring inside our home. They remind us of the glory of spring and summer.

One thing it is never too late to think about is what kind of seeds are you planting in the garden of your soul:

God will never be mocked! For what you plant will always be the very thing you harvest. The harvest you reap reveals the seed that you planted. If you plant the corrupt seeds of self-life into this natural realm, you can expect a harvest of corruption. If you plant the good seeds of Spirit-life you will reap beautiful fruits that growfrom the everlasting life of the Spirit. Galatians 6:6-7 (TPT)

Planting seeds in an outside garden will reap a beautiful return in summer, but seeds that flow from your heart reap a harvest all year long! What kind of harvest do you want to reap? For it is certain that the seeds you plant will be what comes up – the thorns of bitterness, or the roses of a heart that loves. We have a choice every day as to what kind of harvest we will reap.

For the good news is that even if you have been caught in the snare of bitterness or anger or wrath – you can wash those seeds away by being washed in the water of His Word, and repent to the Father so the blood of His Son can regenerate the field of your heart. He is the God of more than a second chance. Yet, why wait to see how many chances He will give – the burden of a dark heart is too heavy to bear. Forgive and be free!

Even though there are times in the winter season that the sun shines brightly – because of the cold – nothing will bloom. So too in our lives. Even when we repent, even when we seek to rid our heart of whatever is weighing it down, our spirit must not maintain the coolness of a hardened heart. We must allow the Holy Spirit to fill us to overflowing so that the warmth of that love will spill out to others:

He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. 2 Corinthians 1:4 (NLT)
