Maybe It’s Not Time Yet…
One of the traits that young people have today s a feeling that they can have it all. Previous generations reckoned with the thought that since you can’t have it all, you learn to deal with what you do have. Which one is right? I came across this scripture today:
22 Then Jesus said to the disciples, "Have faith in God. 23 I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. 24 I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours. 25 But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, tool Mark 11:22-25 (NLT)
At first glance it looks like that we can have it all. That all we have to do is have faith in God and the sky is the limit! Yet, if we continue to read we get to a part that says that when we pray we need to first of all forgive those we have a grudge against. We need to also ask our Father to forgive our sins. Both of these things appear to be a prerequisite to the "pray for anything and really believe it will happen, and it will happen."
Translated, this means that life is a process. It is not that God withholds things from us, there is a time and a season for everything. God knows the end from the beginning and He knows what order things need to happen in our lives. We grow in trees of righteousness. Maybe that million dollars we are believing for will bring us more sorrow than good. Why would a loving Father give you something that will hurt you? Maybe there is a storm coming in your life that will take too much energy for you take on that promotion on your job right now. Maybe, just maybe God knows best what we need and when we need it.
This does not mean we should not ask, that we should not pray, that we should not believe. Our Father loves it most when we have faith in Him. What it does mean is that we need to leave the timing to Him, giving:
"…unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Ephesians 3:20 (KJV)
