Oh How I Thank You For This Gift!
We are approaching that time of the year when the focus is on gift-giving. What’s the best gift you ever got? It probably wasn’t the one that was the most expensive. It was probably the one you didn’t expect that hit a place in your heart because of the sensitivity of the giver who gave it. They gave indication to you that they "knew you" and knew what you would like.
Our Father God gave each of us this kind of gift, and it can only be described as "indescribable";
15 Now thanks be to God for His indescribable gift [which is precious beyond words] 2 Corinthians 9:15 (AMP)
God’s gift us is not only "indescribable" but "precious beyond words". For while we were yet His enemies, in total rebellion to Him, wanting our own way and charting our own course – God gave:
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever would believe on Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life". John 3:14 (KJV)
Think of it – would you give your worst enemy, the most precious thing that you possessed because you knew that they needed it? Because you looked beyond what you saw on their surface, and stopped judging them based on their behavior, and looked deep into their soul and saw something that would be so precious to them that it would bring them joy?
Even more marvelous is that this gift not only touched a heart but was a surge to a dead heart bringing it to life:
I have been crucified with Christ [that is, in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body I live by faith [by adhering to, relying on, and completely trusting] in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. Galatians 2:20 (AMP)
Yes, God gave a gift that touched my heart and it is one that never grows old, because the Giver designed it in such a way that it is a gift that keeps on giving – every day in every way.
