Only a God…
Today as I looked out over the Atlantic Ocean I was reminded of the scripture from Proverbs 18:29:
When He set a boundary for the sea So that the water would not violate His command, When He marked out the foundations of the earth; (KJV)
How can the constantly moving waters be contained so that they go no further than the assigned boundary? Only a God can do this. There is no real scientific explanation as to why the waters that make up 71% of the earth’s surface are contained. Naturally there are theories, but of course they are not proven because there is no recorded evidence as to how the water appeared, except of course – in the Bible.
The same miracle that created boundaries for the water has our lives in check. He knows the days and the seasons of our lives and He knows which way we should go and how we should go. The difference between us and the rest of creation is that we have a free will to determine if we will follow God’s plan, or if we will follow our own, with little or no boundaries.
Recently I have been privileged to welcome a new grandson, and two new great-grandsons. Each one fearfully and wonderfully made, each one a different skin tone, different hair and eye color, a different personalty. Each one has their own unique set of fingerprints, and a future that has been planned since the foundation of the world, if they choose to follow it.
When we think of creation, when we think of our yesterdays, our todays, our tomorrows, we can’t help but know that there is a God who we tend to think is behind the scenes, but He is the unseen mover in our lives, and wants more than anything to clear our eye view that we might see Him for all that He is and wants to be for us.
