PAUSE!
Yesterday I did not write a post. I took the time to "pause" from my regularly scheduled program. I needed to re-group! As mere men and women we sometimes have to retreat in order to advance. Yet our God never pauses:
Why would you ever complain, O Jacob, or, whine, Israel, saying, "God has lost track of me. He doesn’t care what happens to me"? Don’t you know anything? Haven’t you been listening? God doesn’t come and go. God lasts. He’s Creator of all you can see or imagine. He doesn’t get tired out, doesn’t pause to catch his breath. And he knows everything, inside and out. He energizes those who get tired, gives fresh strength to dropouts. For even young people tire and drop out, young folk in their prime stumble and fall. But those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, They run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind. Isaiah 40:27-31 (MSG)
While we sometimes wonder if God is with us during our various tests and trials, the prophet Isaiah clearly lets us know that God never "pauses""pause" from life because our strength has failed or our understanding has faltered – we see an admonition here, that while we pause to wait on the God who can give us fresh strength, who can cause us to be lifted out of the valley of distress to soar like an eagle. We see that with that strength we will be able to "run" and never get tired and stay in line formation for any and all battles."
A line from the familiar poem, "Don’t Give Up" applies here:
When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest (pause) if you must but don’t you quit!(insert – mine)
