So, You Want To Be A Prophet?

If the enemy of our soul can’t get us to sin outright, then he tries to get us to be like Lucifer who tried toe exalt himself above the most high. One of the greatest attributers we can strive for as believers is to walk in humility as a servant.  And, that is how we start out – so glad to be free from a life of sin we willingly submit to leadership. As time goes on however, if we’re not careful, we begin to question leadership and sometimes even feel as if we can do things better than they can. This is not a new phenomenon, let’s look at some of our ancient forefathers:

He called Aaron and Miriam to him. When they stepped out, he said, Listen carefully to what I’m telling you. If there is a prophet of God among you, I make myself known to him in visions, I speak to him in dreams. But I don’t do it that way with my servant Moses; he has the run of my entire house; I speak to him intimately, in person, in plain talk without riddles: He ponders the very form of God. Numbers 12:3-7 (The Message)

Aaron and Miriam were the brother and sister of Moses. He came to them when God told him to deliver the Israelites. They felt as if they had a favored position on his leadership team and could freely speak on the things that he was doing. One day they got a stern rebuke from God, and that rebuke is something we all need to take into consideration. No matter how gifted we may be – and admittedly we are all given gifts and callings; yet those gifts and callings operate in the place and time that God ordains. When God has appointed a Moses among us, no matter how much we feel as if we can do their job better, if we’re not the Moses He called, it would be wise to hold our peace and take our issues to God, not to others.
