That Which Brings Understanding!

In light of the bitter divides taking place in our nation today, I have given a great deal of thought to the positions taken by opposing sides. Just as adamant as one side is about their position, the other side is the same about theirs. Who then is right?  Maybe both, maybe neither. Truth does not have to fit in your side to be true; nor does it have to taken up for roll call vote to be true. Truth is truth all by itself. Trying to bring leverage to your position to the exclusion of everybody’s else’s is not God’s design, although many portray it to be so.

So then, how are we able to discern truth? What can be the barometer to gage the truth? Interestingly enough it comes not from the pillars of a great government, or the coffers of a wealthy one. Interestingly enough the scripture says;

130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple. Psalm 119:130 (KJV)

When "light comes" – then comes understanding. The primitive thoughts and behaviors we once held onto can no longer stand. When the light of our understanding comes in we see. clearer, we can plan better, and go further into our purpose.

There are many people living in our nation today who have no malicious bone in their body. They are not out to be contrary, they just believe the way they believe (maybe because their parents believed that way – or their peer group believes that way) and they are not wanting to fight with anybody. However, if given the occasion to be presented with a different perspective, particularly if it is riddled with truth or scientific fact, they can often be persuaded to change their way of thinking. Their understanding is then opened because they have more light on the subject.

I’m reminded of the story of the blind man coming to Jesus and asking Him to restore his sight. Jesus replied:

51 And Jesus said, "What do you want Me to do for you?" The blind man said to Him, "Rabboni (my Master), let me regain my sight." 52 Jesus said to him, "Go; your faith [and confident trust in My power] has made you well." Immediately he regained his sight and began following Jesus on the road. MARK 10:52-62 (AMP)

When the faith we have has been revealed in us, or if we encounter the giver of faith- then light is shed on who He is and what He can do for us, we  have "confident trust in (His) power". When this understanding is achieved – then we become a candidate to receive miracles.
