The Decision is Yours!

Editor’s Note: For the next few weeks we are going to intersperse our posts with some olides but goodies. Some you may remember, some maybe not – all I hope will give you something to think about!

If there is one thing that abounds in the earth realm today, it is – distractions. Whether its’ social media, or politics, or the neighbors across the street – there is no shortage on things hat can take our attention away from what we are supposing to be doing. The wisest man in the world prior to the coming of the Messiah had this to say:

When the clouds are full of water, it rains. When the wind blows down a tree, it lies where it falls. Don’t sit there watching the wind. Do your own work. Don’t stare at the clouds. Get on with your life. Ecclesiastes 11:3-4 (MSG)

You see, procrastination is nothing new. Distractions are nothing new. We have to make a determined, conscientious effort to stay on task. A word that is seldom used today is “spiritual disciplines”. We want a microwave God who fixes us in 30 seconds or less. When that doesn’t occur, many walk away from the faith, saying it doesn’t work for them. Faith works, if you work it!

Would you give the riches of your assets to someone you don’t know? If you won’t, why should God? We want the riches of His Kingdom, the blessings of His Kingdom and the power of His kingdom. Yet, we don’t want to spend time with Him in His Word, or in fellowship. This causes us to be in a situation where we are spiritually malnourished. A person who is malnourished has a hard time doing “great exploits” for God, or even himself.

When all is said and done and the roll is called up yonder, we won’t be judged on the opinions we gave about the goings on of “who, what and where”. We will be judged by what we did with the life that God gave us. It is  high time we stopped looking at the clouds, and trying to determine where the winds of change are going, and making a conscious decision to “get on with [our] own life”!
