The Father’s Blessing!
Countless sons and daughters are walking this earth in despair, defeat, discouragement. They longed to receive a blessing from their father and many do not even know their father, or the father for some reason does not understand that this was his role. It is no doubt true that many of our societal ills would eradicate if there were fathers who understood and performed this important task:
And he said, Is not he rightly named Jacob? for he hath supplanted me these two times: he took away my birthright; and, behold, now he hath taken away my blessing. And he said, Hast thou not reserved a blessing for me? Genesis 27:36 (KJV)
16 Be careful that no one among you lives in immorality, becoming careless about God’s blessings, like Esau who traded away his rights as the firstborn for a simple meal. 17 And we know that later on when he wanted to inherit his father’s blessing, he was turned away, even though he begged for it with bitter tears, for it was too late then to repent.Hebrews 12:16-17 (TPT)
There is something else that has to be considered. Not only do fathers have to understand their role, children have to receive that which only their father’s can provide. If the son or daughter refuses to accept God’s blessings as they are extended down from their father than they not only miss out on an important part of their legacy, but impair their future generations from receiving it too.
We can’t give what we don’t have and we can’t do what we don’t know to do. This is why it is so vital that believers who have heard the voice of God and answered; then are willing to sit at the Master’s feet and be taught the ways of God go out and teach others. Cain cried out in Genesis 4, when God asked him where his brother was, "am I my brother’s keeper?" Sadly, Cain, like many of us don’t understand that we don’t live in a world by ourselves. All the good you can do in your own private dwelling can be dissolved when your kids hit the streets, if the streets are immoral. We must be a voice in the earth always honoring God and speaking truth.
There is no treasure greater to give your children than to give them the benefit of the father’s blessing. If there, for whatever reason is no father in the house – than there is a Father in heaven who has promised to be there always and He will give a blessing that will remain eternally:
26 Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;
27 A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you this day: Deuteronomy 11:26-27 (KJV)
