This Keeps Coming Back…

There are some scriptures that you read and are glad you got through them, like the ‘begots’. There are other scriptures that keep coming back to speak to you, some to remind you, some to encourage you, some to just plain stay in front of you as a guide. One scripture that has kept coming back to me for years is:

For yet in a very little while,
He who is coming will come, and will not delay.
38

But My righteous one [the one justified by faith] shall live by faith[respecting man’s relationship to God and trusting Him];
And if he draws back [shrinking in fear], My soul has no delight in him.

39 But our way is not that of those who shrink back to destruction, but [we are] of those who believe [relying on God through faith in Jesus Christ, the Messiah] and by this confident faith preserve the soul. Hebrews 10:37-39 (AMP)

The Lord’s coming again is eminent – in His time it will happen. What we do until He comes again depends upon us. Will we be found faithful to the Lord and His precepts and judgments? Will we have faith to believe Him even when fearful circumstances occur, (the pandemic was a good time to measure you faith and how much you believed God, or the forecasters). Will we allow the evil of our day to cause us to shrink in fear, hiding out in our homes, afraid to go ond interact with other people?

All of these questions are not to cause us to be in condemnation, but rather to help us gauge where we are. Are we abiding in Christ with confidence that no matter? When fearful things are occurring, is our anchor holding fast? Are we in need of spending more time in Bible study? Do we need to spend more time hearing the preached word, for after all “faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God”? Do we need to spend more time in fellowship with the saints of God, feeling that we are part of a larger body of believers that are not afraid to stand up in the public square for what they believer?

The Lord’s return we have no part in determining when it will be. However, the above things we do have a part in deciding our course of action. How have you chosen in days past, how will you choose as you go forward? The choice is up to you – for there is only One whose you will answer to for Jesus is a personal Savior.
