Under Construction!
How are you doing – are you still committed to the resolutions that you said you were going to do in this new year? According to a recent poll, January 17th could be called no more resolution day. Some hold on for a month and most people completely forsake their resolutions by March. Making resolutions and keeping them are two entirely different things.
Our Heavenly Father knows us, for it is He who made us. He formed us from the dust of the ground and dust changes according to the weather. What is an annoying brush against our skin when the wind is fierce, can turn into a deadly sinking hole of mud in a torrential rain. This is so true of our lives. Temptations can be ignored when we are filled with the Spirit of God, fully caught up with our Bible reading, and in good fellowship with the saints. However, there are those days when you’ve missed opening your Bible for days, for some reason you haven’t been to church, and the enemy has you at odds with your besties. A believer in that condition is prime steak for the enemy, he will eat you up!
One of the things I love about The Passion Translation is the descriptive way that it phrases some of the words in the Bible. For example in Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, he states this in regard our humanity:
You are rising like the perfectly fitted stones of the temple; and your lives have been built up together upon the foundation laid by the apostles and prophets, and best of all, you are connected to the Head Cornerstone of the building, the Anointed One, Jesus Christ himself!
21This entire building is under construction and is continually growing under his supervision until it rises up completed as the holy temple of the Lord himself. Ephesians 2:20-21 TPT
This is a visual that we can all imagine. We are“rising like perfectly fitted stones…connected to the Head Cornerstone…Jesus Christ himself.” Yet, we are not yet in concrete because“the entire building is under construction and is continually growing“. Herein is the good news of the gospel, we are not finished, and neither are our brothers and sisters. Yes, Jesus, the chief cornerstone has finished His assignment, but He allows for changes to the rest of the building until He finishes the temple, because we are under His supervision! Jesus knows that there will be constant alterations to our stones, but as He molds us and makes us, we will be on that day, perfectly fitted into this glorious temple, and so will our brethren.
Therefore, take heart – you may have messed up on your New Year’s resolution, but if you have been connected to the chief cornerstone, He’ll work all things together for your good, and perfect our stones!
Maria
