Wait Until You Hear This…

We are now in the seventh day of the last month of this year. Again, the reports are flooded with more frightening news concerning a new strain of the coronavirus. We are beset with the wonder of whether we will once again have to go into isolation. Not the kind of thoughts we want to have at Christmas when we look forward to celebrating with family and friends

There is no lasting despair to those whose hope is n the Christ of Christmas. Just looking over a portion of the book we are reminded of why we should not fear:

 I stand silently to listen for the one I love,
    waiting as long as it takes for the Lord to rescue me.
    For God alone has become my Savior.
He alone is my safe place;
    his wraparound presence always protects me.
    For he is my champion defender;
    there’s no risk of failure with God.
    So why would I let worry paralyze me, even when troubles multiply around me? Psalm 62:1-2 (TPT)

Advent gives us the opportunity to wait in silence for that voice. That voice of the One we love. That quiet, yet invigorating voice that says, “Lo, I am with you always”. That silence gives us opportunity to remember that there is one God, who became our Savior.

When fears surround us, we remember that He is our safe place, “under His wings do I take refuge” (Psalm 91). As the psalmist says above His presence wraps all around us a cloak does in the wintry storm. We remember that if He be for us, He is more than the world against us. We remember that He can do anything, but fail!

So my soul reaches beyond the darkness, stretching my soul to the Light of the world. I am my beloved and He is mine (Song of Solomon 6:3). There is no good thing that He will withhold from me (Psalm 84:11). He died that I might have the tree of life! (Revelation 2:7) His word will continuously feed me (Jeremiah 15:16).

I can go about my day now, I have been refreshed, He is my Emmanuel (God With Us).

Maria
