We Are All There Sometime!
If we’re honest, we are not always on our “A” game. There are times when we lose heart, there are times when our faith is low, there are times when we are just plain afraid. It is so good to know that these feelings are not unique, rather they are common to man:
But in the day that I’m afraid, I lay all my fears before you and trust in you with all my heart. Psalm 56:3 (TPT)
The question is not if we are going to be afraid, but when we are afraid, what are we go doing to do?
Fear by definition is a natural response to something that appears to be dangerous to us. We are not all afraid of the same things. When fear rises within us, it is primarily because we don’t think we are prepared to adequately deal with what we are facing.
For example, some people are deathly afraid of speaking to others in public. Yet, on a Zoom platform (as long as the camera isn’t showing) they can go forth with ease.
Fear comes in all shapes and sizes. The antidote is the same however. We must acknowledge our fear and put that fear before our God, and trust Him to bring us through the fearful experience, not around it.
It is fair to say however, there is one fear that we should always have:
Put the fear of God in them, Eternal One! Remind the nations they are mere men, not gods. [pause] Psalm 9:20 (The Voice)
We should always have a fear of God, knowing we are not invincible, it is He that has made us, and not we ourselves!
