We Need Each Other!
Have you ever woke up and decided you’ve heard so much negativity that you no longer need your ear, so you think about cutting it off? Now that you’ve wondered what kind of loco am I, I have to say I have never thought this and you have not thought this either. Why, because we need our ear – in fact we need both of our ears. God in His infinite wisdom knew every body part we have and knew we would need each and every one, those visible and those not visible! So, we strive to not only keep all of our body parts, but to keep them functioning well:
In the human body there are many parts and organs, each with a unique function. And so it is in the body of Christ. For though we are many, we’ve all been mingled into one body in Christ. This means that we are all vitally joined to one another, with each contributing to the others. Romans 12:1-4 (TPT)
Just as every part in our body has a unique and vital function, so too does each member of the body of Christ. To decide that someone is dispensable just because you don’t know their function is a step above your pay grade. We need each other – both the forerunners and those that seem to be holding on to someone else’s coattails. God made each and every person to perform a specific function in this life. The best we can do for mankind is to pray that each person not only finds their function, but they do it, and do it to the glory of God!
This is easier said than done. Human relationships are not only complex but they can be trying. People can vex our very souls, just like we are probably vexing someone else’s. Yet as the old saying goes, “God does not make any junk” – so our job is to look beyond the exterior and see people the way Jesus sees them and remember that He says, “come as you are“.
The mission of the church is to minister to the the lost, the broken, the sick, the lonely, the frightened, the angry and through a collective assembly watch the transforming work of Jesus make us whole. Too many of us have forgotten the work of the church, and more than that have forgotten that the church is not brick and mortar – we are the church of the living God!
Join me in a prayer for renewal that each of us will remember that “such were some of us” -and God saved us, redeemed us, sanctified us for His purpose and while the doors of the building remain open – pray that God will send such to us that He might perform the same work in them.
