What a Joy To Be In The Will!
It may not happen often, but every now and then someone winds up as a benefactor in a rich person’s will. In one day their life changes, and they begin to walk in an inheritance that they didn’t work for. By virtue of being in the family, the lots were cast in their direction.
We, as the people of God have this opportunity. WE ARE IN THE WILL! We don’t have to work for our very rich inheritance, we receive it just because we’re in the family:
The nation whose True God is the Eternal is truly blessed; fortunate are all whom He chooses to inherit His legacy. Psalm 33:12 (The Voice)
This passage indicates that it is not relegated to a few, even a whole nation can enjoy the benefits of God’s blessing.
The United States of America is walking in the blessing of God. it is not because it is so good or righteous. Yet, God has heard the cries of His people throughout the years of this nation’s onset – celebrated this day, July 4th. It is as if I can hear the Lord say about the U.S.:
7-10 God wasn’t attracted to you and didn’t choose you because you were big and important—the fact is, there was almost nothing to you. He did it out of sheer love… Know this: God, your God, is God indeed, a God you can depend upon. He keeps his covenant of loyal love with those who love him and observe his commandments for a thousand generations Deuteronomy 7:7-10 (Selected verses from the MSG)
You may look at the United States today and see all the many things that are wrong with it. You may rant and rave over political officials that you do not agree with. Somewhere in our history, there were saints of God who looked beyond all that was wrong and appealed to the God of heaven to bless this nation. They made a decision to ask God to bless this nation where they lived, praying God’s mercy, grace and protection. They prayed and prayed, against injustice – against slavery, against child labor, against unfair hiring practices, against racism. They made a decision to light a candle than curse the darkness. God heard, and He acted in their behalf. If we can catch a glimpse of the grace of God, we too will pray, and pray, and pray, and just maybe the wrath of God will be turned and our children, and grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will walk in a more glorious liberty than we could ever imagine.
