What Can I Give to the King On His Birthday!

Wise men from the east saw a star in the skies that let them know that God had sent a King to the earth. They followed this star, traveling far that they could come and worship Him:

After Jesus was born in Bethlehem village, Judah territory— this was during Herod’s kingship—a band of scholars arrived in Jerusalem from the East. They asked around, "Where can we find and pay homage to the newborn King of the Jews? We observed a star in the eastern sky that signaled his birth. We’re on pilgrimage to worship him." Matthew 2:2 (MSG)

Interestingly enough, they recognized Him as a significant King and felt they had to bring homage or render unto Him their respect and honor and tribute. When finding the Christ child, they gave the valuable commodities of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

We are approaching Christmas, for Christians the celebration of Christ’s birth. What can we give to this King? What valuable treasure do we have that could even begin to convey the respect, honor and tribute He deserves? There is a gospel song that says:

What shall I render unto God for all His blessings?
What shall I render, what shall I give?

The response is:

Verse 2:
All I can render is my body and my soul.
That’s all I can render, that’s all I can give.

"What Can I Render", (written by Margaret Pleasant Douroux) (recorded by Vanessa Bell-Armstrong)

Yet, there is one thing more that would honor the King – to pray for the salvation of those who do not know Him.

There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. John 15:13 (NLT)
