What House Are You Working On?
The summer has past, the fall is here, and very soon it will be winter. Whatever isn’t done on your house prior to the first snow is only multiplied in cost and repair after the snow comes. The preceding seasons were the time to get the work done!
If we are astute, we must realize that there is a winter coming upon our world, which is beyond the natural seasons. As much as we would like to end the trauma we have faced globally from this pandemic, there are many things that have price tags associated with it, that are yet to come. The question thus should be posed again, “what house are you working on”:
2 “Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘These people say, “The time has not come that the Lord’s house (temple) should be rebuilt.”’” 3 Then the word of the Lord came by Haggai the prophet, saying, 4 “Is it time for you yourselves to live in your [expensive] paneled houses while this house [of the Lord] lies in ruins?” Haggai 1:2-4 (AMP)
The prophet Haggai spoke directly to a very important issue. Our Father God throughout the history of His dealings with His chosen people had much to say about the places we worship. There were specific requirements for the building of God’s House:
You must build this Tabernacle and its furnishings exactly according to the pattern I will show you. Exodus 25:9 (NLT)
Whether it was for His former tabernacle, or His latter temple, God wanted His House to be a place where His glory would dwell. It could not be a haphazard compilation of left overs – only the finest materials were to go into the preparation of God’s house.
It is no different with the house that now houses the Spirit of God:
5 Moses brought healing and redemption to his people as a faithful servant in God’s house, and he was a witness to the things that would be spoken later. 6 But Jesus the Anointed was faithful as a Son of that house. (We become that house, if we’re able to hold on to the confident hope we have in God until the end.) Hebrews 3:5-6 (The Voice)
So the question is, what house are you working on? What kind of materials are being used? Who will be welcome in your house? And just as important, is it ready for winter?
