Where is My Father?
There is one thing that everyone of us should know. You can’t make an excuse that God is so far away that you can’t find Him, for He is always near:
26 From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. 27 God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. 28 ‘For in him we live and move and have our being. As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring. Acts 17:26-28 (KJV)
God did not create a people that would not be able to keep in touch with Him. He carefully orchestrated a plan that included the ability for people in all places and through all times a way that they could not only reach Him, but stay close in touch. In fact we are created for Him to live in us and we to live in Him. We are His children (offspring).
God did not plan a people that would be subservient to His commands, like a robot. He wanted a people who would seek for Him and invite Him into their lives to have relationship. This may seem contrary to the way we view God, and that is why it is so important to find out who He is by reading His Word. As in this passage it is so reassuring to know that because we are HIs children, our very being is part of who He is and can dictate how we live. We don’t have to live in regret for our past, be anxious about our present, or fear our future. Just as the boundaries of the nations are set, so is our security with the Creator God – only instead of having the terms pre-set, we have the opportunity to define the boundaries – God will be for us everything we let Him be. The greater the territory we give Him, the more abundance is added to our life.
