Why We Fight For Life!

In the face of the mounting death toll, there are those of us still praying and fighting in the Spirit for people to live. Why do we fight? The scripture declares that ‘to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:8 KJV) We who are believers base our faith on this truth that heaven will be a far better place than this. While that is true, we find ourselves straining to stay here. Is it because we are like the Apostle Paul who says that to go to be Christ would be better, but it would not be profitable to that community that God has assigned us to (Phil. 1)?

We are each born into a family, not of our choosing. We grow and bend toward a community, sometimes of our choosing, sometimes not. Whatever the case, when we come to a faith in Christ, this is our community. We have an obligation to let them know, if no one else, of the love of God and the saving power of Jesus Christ. It is necessary that we live a life of stature in the Lord Jesus before them. It is honoring to God and beneficial to them that we pray with fervency that they come into the faith that we have been so graciously brought into.

When afflictions come, and they will, we don’t surrender to them, we fight the good fight of faith (1 Timothy 6:12). We contend for the faith that was once delivered unto the saints (Jude 1) when it seems as if all hope is lost. We look at the statistics rising with a coronavirus and we stand flat footed on the Word of God, continually to speak death to the virus and life to people. Why do we do this:

25 So he is able to save fully from now throughout eternity, everyone who comes to God through him, because he lives to pray continually for them. 26 He is the High Priest who perfectly fits our need—holy, without a trace of evil, without the ability to deceive, incapable of sin, and exalted beyond the heavens! (Hebrews 7:25-26 (TPT)

We do this that all (as many as will) may come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. It is our mission and our commission given to us by our Lord. We say like Paul that all:

18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;

19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Ephesians 3:18-20 (KJV)

God gave us this life to LIVE. And we should fight to LIVE all the days appointed to us. One day that time will be up and we will go home to be with the Father. Until that day we FIGHT, we PRESS, we CONTEND to be all that made us to be, and to help our brothers and sisters see:

7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1;7-9 (KJV)]
