You Know – THAT Person!
Have you ever tried to run the other way when you saw “THAT” person coming. That person who can say one word and it throws you into a fit. Yes, there are “those” people in our life that we could do with out – forever.
Do you know that “those” people are the very ones that our Father wants us to run to, not run from:
1Now, those who are mature in their faith can easily be recognized, for they don’t live to please themselves but have learned to patiently embrace others in their immaturity. 2Our goal must be to empower others to do what is right and good for them, and to bring them into spiritual maturity. Romans 15:1-2 (TPT)
If we say we love God, are walking with God, and have arrived at a degree of maturity than we don’t live to please ourselves – we live to do what is good and right for other people. Most of the people that can get your goat are those who are still immature in their faith, (and probably life too). They have not learned the fine art of finess! What comes up – comes out! Needless to say they can try every bit of patience that we can muster up.
Yet we find this scripture following:
3For not even the most powerful one of all, the Anointed One, lived to please himself. His life fulfilled the Scripture that says:All the insults of those who insulted you fall upon me. 4Whatever was written beforehand is meant to instruct us in how to live. The Scriptures impart to us encouragement and inspiration so that we can live in hope and endure all things. Romans 15:3-4 (TPT)
Jesus Himself had to deal with those that insulted Him. Yet, even more than that the insults that He suffered, He also suffered the insults that fall upon us, He took those too!
When all is said and done the scriptures are before us not only instructing us how to live, but also to encourage us as well. Because they speak of Jesus, they give us to know that “we can live in hope and endure all things” – even difficult people.
