Have you ever had one of those days, when it seems as if the four walls are closing in on you? That everything you have tried to do has produced no success? Pondering what to do, all of a sudden you remember, "that’s what prayer is for". Through prayer, God can do what we will never be able to do, no matter how hard we try. One of God’s beloved sons is a classic example of how we act:
Bend an ear, GodGod, to my prayer; bend down and listen to my cry for help. Every time I’m in trouble I call on you, confident that you’ll answer. Psalm 86:1 (MSG)
It seems here that David remembers and then forgets, but ultimately he remembers – that every time he called on God – God comes through.
We are like David. We’re all geeked one minute because we know, no one could have done "it" but God. The next minute, we’re all flustered again – wondering how in the world this "thing’ is going to work out. When we get this way, we’ve got to be like David, talk it up – and then if and when doubts come – talk up God, remembering… And as we remember, we’ll do what David did, ask God again, and be confident that He will answer.
