Nighttime Is More Than A Time of Day!

Research has shown that depression increases when the days grow shorter and we awake to darkness and come home from work in darkness. In fact it is not just the spirit man that is affected by darkness, there are also a number of physical reactions to being in sustained periods of the dark. And nighttime is not just a time of the day. There are “night seasons” in our life where it seems as if nothing is breaking for us. We are hemmed into a dark place with no light in sight.

How wonderful it is to have the opportunity to fully embrace the dawn:

God is in the midst of his city, secure and never shaken. At daybreak his help will be seen with the appearing of the dawn. Psalm 46:5 (TPT)

The Psalmist reminds of that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. He is the midst of His city – with brilliant light, always secure, never shaken. He is not disturbed the shadows of darkness that want to bring us doubt, fear, and unbelief. His answer is always “yes” and “amen”!

We get a glimpse of this with the appearing of the dawn. What a privilege it is to see darkness fade into nothingness, while the light ascends on a brand new day.

Take heart today, the dawn has ascended upon your soul. That night season is fading into obscurity, while the revelation of the light of God floods over your soul. I keep hearing “The Promise” – by Kari Jobe and Elevation Worship:

…May His presence go before you

And behind you

And beside you

All around you

And within you

He is with you

He is with you

In the morning

In the evening

In your coming

And your going

In your weeping

And rejoicing

He is for you

He is for you

He is for you…
