Coming to This Point…

One thing about this walk with God is that we don’t get it all the first day. Yes, we get our title deed into heaven and eternal life, but we don’t automatically become the angelic presence we will one day become.

We grow in trees of righteousness. We start off as a seed and little by little, here a little, there a little we grow. Sometimes it seems as if it is going to take years to shed off dead bark, and be able to shoot up into a lively and flourishing tree. Other times the shoot begins to spurt up rapidly into something fantastic with beautiful leaves adorning our branches.

However, as the seasons and years pass, we become less concerned wtih how we look, or even how we are growing. We become more concerned that we are positioned to be in God’s presence:

Here’s the one thing I crave from God, the one thing I seek above all else: I want the privilege of living with him every moment in his house, finding the sweet loveliness of his face, filled with awe, delighting in his glory and grace. I want to live my life so close to him that he takes pleasure in my every prayer. Psalm 27:4 (TPT)

Yes, one day we spend less time trying to be, and just "be". Be the one who is just glad that they are part of the beloved. To be the one who can gaze upon the glory and grace of God in their life. To have the assurance that God hears every heart’s cry and is pleased with the offering of our life before Him.

I hear the words of a worship song that was sung  by so many that express this sentiment:

Oh the glory of Your presence
We Your temple
Give You reverence
Come and rise from Your rest
And be blessed by our praise
As we glory in Your embrace
As Your presence
Now fills this place…
