Elusive, But in Your Reach!

The word elusive by definition means hard to find or catch. Therefore my word for today fits under this term, for faith is indeed hard to find or catch. It is not because of faith, it’s because of us:

Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses]. Hebrews 11:1(AMP)

When you look at this scripture defining faith you see that it is first of all a “title deed, a confirmation”. When you think of a title deed you don’t think elusive, you think right now, right here, permanent. Going further you see that faith is a title deed of “things hoped for” – you mean God really will give us a permanent confirmation to something that we have only hoped for, if we have faith?

As we continue with the definition we see that faith is not seen with the naked eye, rather it sees clearly what is not evident in the “physical senses“. This means that faith is as real as what we see, but not visible, in our realm. This means that we can understand faith and hold onto it in our heart and mind as something we believe even though we do not experience it in our physical senses. So again, although faith seems to be elusive because you can’t see it or catch it – it is still very much in your reach because it is born out of hope and shaped by our belief! Faith is as real as you can conceive and believe!

Taking us through this definition of faith lets us know that faith is not born out of tangible things, but it is born out of a heart’s desire to see something come to pass that does not yet exist. It is a marvelous adventure that we can take with God. While we can’t see a road map on this journey, we can trust the pilot to steer us to our destination with as few detours as possible. We do need to water our faith, by reading God’s word, for nothing living can survive without water. We need to exercise our faith by daily bringing our requests before the Lord and seeing how He brings them to pass.

Finally we need to thank God for our faith. For the privilege of engaging in this joyful journey is only guaranteed to covenant card carrying believers.
