He That Has An Ear to Hear…
There are no shortages of messages today. They are shouted from the housetops and screaming through our televisions and radios each and every day. Talk shows abound where everyone on the show is an authority on every subject imaginable. If you were an alien from another sphere it would be hard to discern between the truth and the wanna be truth.
However, if you can sift through all the noise and clamor, you will hear a still small voice telling us to prepare ourselves for the day of the Lord:
To whom can I give warning? Who will listen when I speak? Their ears are closed, and they cannot hear. They scorn the word of the Lord. They don’t want to listen at all. Jeremiah 6:10 (NLT)
While we spend countless hours listening to the talk shows and the round the clock news, the attendance at church has more than been cut in half. The average church today having a regular attendance of about sixty. Of that number how many are tuned in to what the spirit of the Lord is really saying. Just as in the days of Jeremiah, as he urged his people to repent; so the message today is the same – we must repent. Repent not just for our own personal sins, but for the sins of our nation. We cannot continue to stand by and watch the world go to hell in a hand basket so to speak, without us (or our families) getting caught in the undertow.
I believe this year will be a year of cleansing. God wants us to come before Him and seek His face for what He wants us to do and who He wants us to be. For those who can hear, He will show them great and mighty things which currently they know not. For those who refuse to hear – well, that is His call. It is however imperative that we speak to as many who will listen the good news of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. To let a world caught in unbelief know that there is a healer who can heal the past, redeem the present, and secure the future. To announce to some and remind others that He is a loving and forgiving God who is long-suffering and wants nothing more than His children come home. To remind even those who are believers that there is nothing too hard for God – He is still making dreams come true.
These are the things that come out of revival. And if there is one thing this country needs, it is a revival that will shake this nation at its’ very core and remind all of us that our arms are not big enough to box with God. He will have the final say, only those who have an ear to hear will receive it.
