How to Keep Your Blood Pressure Down!
While reading my devotion, I ran across some words to live by. In fact, as I read them, I thought this is sure-fire prescription to keep your blood pressure down:
14-16 Bless your enemies; no cursing under your breath. Laugh with your happy friends when they’re happy; share tears when they’re down. Get along with each other; don’t be stuck-up. Make friends with nobodies; don’t be the great somebody.
17-19 Don’t hit back; discover beauty in everyone. If you’ve got it in you, get along with everybody. Don’t insist on getting even; that’s not for you to do. "I’ll do the judging," says God. "I’ll take care of it."
20-21 Our Scriptures tell us that if you see your enemy hungry, go buy that person lunch, or if he’s thirsty, get him a drink. Your generosity will surprise him with goodness. Don’t let evil get the best of you; get the best of evil by doing good. Romans 12:14-21 (MSG)
What if we didn’t take ourselves or live so serious that we can’t take time out to laugh with a friend, and even better to laugh at ourselves? What if we had so much compassion that we cried with our friends when they are down? What if we looked at all of humanity as an opportunity to gain something from knowing and befriending all people, even the so-called "no-bodies"? What if you swore off being a judge and a jury and left the judgement to God?
What if we made a decision to bless everybody in need, whether they are our friends or not? What if we just made a pact with ourselves that we will never allow any enemy spirit to come and take residence in us, resisting the devil and all of his "imps" and letting the love of God rule in our hearts and minds?
One thing for sure, some folk may think you’re a wimp, but you will live free and breathe easy – a real good thing for your heart!
