If Only We Would Take Some Time and, Ponder…
Ponder is not a word that is used very often any more. By defintion, it means to "think about somehing carefully particularly before making a decison". Taking the time to ponder could keep us from costly decisions later:
One day I passed by the field of a lazy man
and I noticed the vineyards of a slacker.
I observed nothing but thorns, weeds, and broken-down walls.
32 So I considered their lack of wisdom,
and I pondered the lessons I could learn from this:
33–34 Professional work habits prevent poverty from becoming
your permanent business partner. And:
If you put off until tomorrow the work you could do today,
tomorrow never seems to come. Proverbs 24:31-34 (TPT)
It’s easy to see the scenario in this proverb, if you observe the results of a particular type of individual, you can learn valuable lessons. Even if you don’t have an important business partnership waiting in the wings, you can profit in your own life by followinig the proverb of not putting off tomorrow, what you can do today.
This lesson does not just apply to busines relationships, or personal lifestyles. If we take the time to "ponder" all the important decisions we have to make, we might find that some of the hasty conclusions, or face value conclusions that we have drawn are not really that wise after all!
We are living in the most prosperous and inventive age of all time. We may not have time to do alot of things, but with the conveniences that most of us have, surely we have some time to "ponder".
