Is There Room at the Throne For Me?

Today as I scrolled through different devotionals, there was one reoccurring theme – that we should love one another. This is a theme that never gets old because it is so easy for the enemy of our soul to come and try to hinder us from loving one another. Scripture affirms this over and over, but one scripture stands out:

Beloved, let us love one another

For love is of God, and

Everyone who loves if born of God and knoweth God.

He that loveth not, knoweth not God

For God is love.1 JOHN 4:708 (KJV)

This scripture, which is a familiar song for Sunday School students is sung, but how many of us get the full meaning. Not only is love from God, but God Himself is love. More than that when we fail to love, we give evidence that we do not even know God! It’s right there, so plain- yet how often we miss it.

We can offer excuses like, "God you don’t know what they did to me""they are not my type". These excuses don’t cut it with God. Because He is love, He doesn’t know anything but love.

It is not based on what we do, or who we are. It is because it is the essence of who He is. When we allow Him to live in us, then that becomes the essence of who we are as well.

It’s hard to believe that it is possible to love unconditionally, but if we go back a few verses, the Apostle John tells us:

We know that we have passed out of death into Life, because we love the brothers and sisters. He who does not love remains in (spiritual) death. 1 John 3:14 (AMP)

Love is an essential characteristic of a believer. In and of ourselves, it is virtually impossible. However, surrendering to God makes it virtually impossible not to do so.

So, we like Jesus must:

We look away from the natural realm and we fasten our gaze onto Jesus who birthed faith within us forward into faith’s perfection. His example is this. Because his heart was focused on the joy of knowing that you would be his, he endured the agony of the cross and conquered its humiliation, and now sits exalted at the right hand of the throne of God! Hebrews 12:2 (TPT)

The question then is, is there room at the throne for me?
