Keep This in Mind!
Everybody does not like us. Everybody is not in our corner. In fact, some people are declared enemies. Should that trouble us? Yes, and No. We should never seek to have enemies, in fact we should "strive to live peacefully with all men as much as lies within us". However, God Himself has an enemy, and if He does, as His children, we will do. The enemy is not the problem, how we view the enemy is the problem:
When you go to war against your enemy and see horses and chariots and soldiers far outnumbering you, do not recoil in fear of them; God, your God, who brought you up out of Egypt is with you. When the battle is about to begin, let the priest come forward and speak to the troops. He’ll say, "Attention, Israel. In a few minutes you’re going to do battle with your enemies. Don’t waver in resolve. Don’t fear. Don’t hesitate. Don’t panic. God, your God, is right there with you, fighting with you against your enemies, fighting to win." Deuteronomy 20:1-4 (MSG)
Just as the poor are with us always, so also enemies will be with us; sometimes to the extent that we have to go to battle with them. The admonition above lets us know how we should do battle. Seeking the counsel and prayer covering of the priest is essential to waging a good warfare. If at all possible, we should never go into life’s battles without Godly counsel. As the scripture says, "in the multitude of counselors there is safety"(Proverbs 11:14 (KJV). After we’ve received counsel, after we’ve received prayer, it is then up to us to draw upon our most holy faith and reject fear, reject apprehension, and establish within yourself that God is with you; that He is the One who will fight your enemies for you, and that you will endure ASAIT – (as long as it takes!) Far too many of us believers give up just before the war is won!
As sure as you have two people, you have two minds, you have two wills, and you are likely to have conflict. Rest assured that if you have done all that you can do to seek peace and pursue it, and there continues to be aggression from the other side, if you give it to God, He will work it for His glory and your good. Be encouraged, and always remember:
The battle is not yours, it’s the Lord’s. -He’s the One they are really upset with.
