Oh The Benefits of Being in the Family!

Even if you are not into the many things money can buy, you have to admit there are times you wish you were born with a silver spoon. There are definite advantages to having privilege. Well, have you considered the benefits you have as a child of God?

But when the time arrived that was set by God the Father, God sent his Son, born among us of a woman, born under the conditions of the law so that he might redeem those of us who have been kidnapped by the law. Thus we have been set free to experience our rightful heritage. You can tell for sure that you are now fully adopted as his own children because God sent the Spirit of his Son into our lives crying out, "Papa! Father!" Doesn’t that privilege of intimate conversation with God make it plain that you are not a slave, but a child? And if you are a child, you’re also an heir, with complete access to the inheritance.Galatians 4:4-5 (MSG)

Just as great as it is to be born in a wealthy family, the exact opposite is true being born a slave. A slave has no rights unless granted by their master and the likelihood of getting set free is slim to none. Yet, one day God deemed mankind worthy to have to dwell among them HIs very own Son. And not only that, His Son was willing to pay the ransom for all those enslaved to the bondage of sin. It gets even better than freedom however, because being adopted by the Son’s Father God, we find that we are also a child of God and an heir with His Son Jesus Christ. As such we have "complete with an inheritance "that has benefits from the very first day until eternity!

And this inheritance includes unlimited access to the Father and endless resources and supply; all you have to do is ask:

Don’t bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need. This isn’t a cat-and-mouse, hide-and-seek game we’re in. If your child asks for bread, do you trick him with sawdust? If he asks for fish, do you scare him with a live snake on his plate? As bad as you are, you wouldn’t think of such a thing. You’re at least decent to your own children. So don’t you think the God who conceived you in love will be even better? Matthew 7:7-11 (MSG)
