Songs From Seeds!

We are approaching the time of the year in the Midwest when the planting season will begin. Farmers will make a huge investment in seeds, top soil, perhaps new farm equipment to do everything they can to produce a bountiful harvest. Even with watching the Almanac for the perfect time to plant, and careful planting of the seed, they are still dependent upon the spring and summer weather to cooperate to ensure that there will be a productive harvest.

So too in our lives, in order to see a harvest in our lives, there has to be some digging and plowing of the soil hardened by the winter seasons of our lives; there has to be a huge investment in a seed – be it school or apprenticeship, or countless hours of practice; there has to be intensive labor to ensure that all the effort put in is according to specification. Then, after all that is done, if you don’t have help from heaven, there are a myriad of things that can go wrong. Yet, we have this assurance from the Word of God:

We cried on the way to plant our seeds, but we will celebrate and shout as we bring in the crops. (CEV) Psalm 126:6

Yes, there may be tears as we work to get and plant seeds for harvest, but if we persist in our efforts, we will bring in the harvest that will make it all worthwhile. We just have to remember, it all begins with a seed, that must be commensurate with the type of harvest you want to reap. What’s your seed?
