The Perfect Dress!

I have been searching high and low for the perfect dress. Not being the size where I can just go in a store and pick from a dozen or so dresses on the rack, it really requires the Holy Ghost Himself shining a light for me to find that dress that will flatter not flash! By the grace of God every now and then I do find that dress and I marvel when I do. I don’t even have to try it on – I just know, it’s going to be perfect. 

As I get older, I care less about the garment I wear and more about another kind of dress. Like my wardrobe, it’s not easy to find, but when I find it I know it is perfect. It’s found in Colossians 3;12-14 (MSG):

^12-14 So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it. 

Realizing that God hand-picked out just for me the perfect fabric to design a garment woven in "compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength and discipline. When I put it on I am able to do the impossible – to forgive to an extent that never would be possible without dressing appropriately. The accessory is so perfect that I don’t have to spend hours trying to match it – it’s a simple, "all-purpose garment" – it goes perfectly with everything, it’s called love.

I saw an amazing depiction of this wardrobe in the film "I Can Only Imagine". It’s out in theaters today, do yourself a favor and go and see it – it’s the fashion statement of the season!
