What Should We Look For?

If Jesus told His disciples to pray – thy kingdom come, thy will be done,  on earth as it is in heaven – then, what does this look like? How will we know we’re on the right track, for none of us have been to heaven:

"…because the kingdom of God is not about eating and drinking. When God reigns, the order of the day is redeeming justice, true peace, and joy made possible by the Holy Spirit." Romans 14:17 (TheVoice)

There  is nothing God expects us to do, or be that He does not give us a blueprint to follow. How much more the daunting task of being a partaker in building a Kingdom of God on earth? In this passage we see that it is not about the things we go about doing every day like eating and drinking; rather, it is about "redeeming justice, true peace, and joy". God knows better than we ever could that it is not something we can achieve in our strength. All of these things are "made possible by the Holy Spirit". We have one commission only, to make ourselves available to be the hands and feet and eyes and voice of the Holy Spirit. When we yield ourselves to the Spirit of God, amazing things happen.

There are thousands of stories of individuals who beat many challenges to go and do something great for mankind. Last year, one little 9-year old boy raised over 65 thousand dollars for cancer research by walking 120 miles. This year a 10-year old boy quickly raised $1,000 to help with medical bills for cancer.

There are countless other stories like this. Many are humanitarian based, others search the scriptures to make sure they place God at the center of their cause. Whatever the case,, the only foundations that will last are the ones that have been built on that solid rock, that solid rock is Jesus.

When we go about working for justice, we find that our lives begin to reflect true peace and unspeakable joy! There is a task that each of us can do, for the needs of this earth are many. However, none is more rewarding than seeking righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Go tell it on the mountain
Over the hills and everywhere
Go tell it on the mountain
Our Jesus Christ is born

When I was a seeker
I sought both night and day
I asked the Lord to help me
And he showed me the wayGo tell it on the mountain
Over the hills and everywhere

Go tell it on the mountain
Our Jesus Christ is born
