The Constant Cry of My Heart…

" Search me [thoroughly], O God, and know my heart; Test me and know my anxious thought " Psalm 139:23 (AMP)

If there is one thing that I continuously seek the Lord about, is to deal with my heart. I found out a long time ago that there was a correlation between the condition of my heart and my physical condition. When I am filled with anxiety or distress; confusion or resentment; or a myriad of other negative feelings, it isn’t long before I find a resulting condition in my physical body.

Just like a battery is needed to be fully charged before an electrical device can function properly, so too our hearts need to be fully charged with good things in order for our body to be fully functioning. When the prophet Jeremiah said:

9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? Jeremiah 17:9 (KJV), he spoke truth. The next verse says:

I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. Jeremiah 17:10 (KJV)

God lets us know that even as He searches our hearts and determines our condition that He also "gives to every man according to his ways." During this season of ultra grace, we may forget that there is a "recompense of reward" for what we do and say.

Recognizing this, I can only say, as I wake up every day for God to search this heart of mine and to help me to allow Him to fill it – and not live according to my errant ways.
