The Kind of New Math I Can Deal With!
Mathematical procedures have changed drastically over the years, yet, whatever process you use, two plus two still equals four. Contemporary society may change the formula but the outcome is still the same. Except when it comes to spiritual laws. 2 Peter shows us one instance where addition ensures multiplied benefits:
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1:5-8 (KJV)
When we with diligence begin the process of adding virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness, and charity to our faith, we wind up with a life that is loaded with fruit. In fact we have so much fruit that in every season there is an abundance of everything that we need. God does not dole out blessings one for our one effort; no, we make an effort and wind up with a truck load of blessings!
