What Goes Around Just May Come Back Around!

The old folks used to warn us of talking about people, saying, "what goes around comes back around". I’ve lived long enough now to know that there is real truth in this. It shouldn’t be a surprise however, because Paul speaks of this in Galatians 6:

^1-3 Live creatively, friends. If someone falls into sin, forgivingly restore him, saving your critical comments for yourself. You might be needing forgiveness before the day’s out. Stoop down and reach out to those who are oppressed. Share their burdens, and so complete Christ’s law. If you think you are too good for that, you are badly deceived. Galatians 6:1-3 (MSG)

Once again Paul lays it out, plain and simple. If we can’t love people for conscience sake as a Christian, then we should realize that love, forgiveness, and patience toward others in the end we are benefitting ourselves.A critical and judgmental spirit not only hurts others, but it tears us down. That mote in our eye blinds us from seeing our own faults, and prevents the spirit of God from helping us in our infirmities.

Instead of concentrating on others, we need to:

^4-5 Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don’t be impressed with yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life. Galatians 6:4-5 (MSG)

If we follow this admonition, it is really a full time job!
