There Is Yet Hope!
Although I did not get opportunity to see all of the program that took place on a national level with the National Day of Prayer, what I did see was greatly encouraging. I also did participate in a local assembly’s recognition of tis very importantt day. If I had only word to describe it, I would say it was "hope". God wants us to have faith, it’s for sure He wants us to have love, but He also wants us to have hope, for that is what keeps our motor running during the tough times.
Though there weren’t massive crowds of people, those that I saw and was with were fervent in their intensity to pray. This is what we are encouraged to do over and over again in scripture:
With all prayer and petition pray [with specific requests] at all times [on every occasion and in every season] in the Spirit, and with this in view, stay alert with all perseverance and petition [interceding in prayer] for all [a]God’s people. Ephesians 6:18 (AMP)
We pray recognizing that God is sovereign, that not only is Lord of all, He Lord over all. Neither is God our errand boy – only existing to give us our every request. What we know about God is also defined in His Word, God is love:
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes on Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 (NKV)
Starting on this premise as we go and grow with God we also begin to know Him and to know His ways. He lets us broaden our vision and will bring us to a place of increase. We will no longer settle for short-sighted prayers but our hearts will reach for bringing the goodness of God’s Kingdom here on earth, as it is in heaven. This releases greater than we can do our own; it releases a floodgate of God’s blessings on God’s people redeeming their lives from the forces of darkness and causing them to operate with greater effectiveness in all that they do.
In other words our thinking becomes elevated, our dreams become activated, our abilities are stretched, our character is refined. Our world becomes bigger. The fruit becomes evident and that fruit remains, reproducing fruit after it’s own kind. A blessed life, a life feflecting the love of God becomes our portion.
