It Began at the Beginning!

There are some days in our lives when we wonder what is going on? Is there any rhyme or reason? Well, take heart, this week we are going to look at another epistle which can clear up any doubt as to whether there is a plan for our lives. We are going to look at selected verses o the book of Ephesians, beginning with chapter 1:

^3-6 Praise be to God for giving us through Christ every possible spiritual benefit as citizens of Heaven! For consider what he has done—before the foundation of the world he chose us to become, in Christ, his holy and blameless children living within his constant care. He planned, in his purpose of love, that we should be adopted as his own children through Jesus Christ—that we might learn to praise that glorious generosity of his which has made us welcome in the everlasting love he bears towards the Son. Ephesians 1:306 (PHILLIPS)

Paul starts right off letting us know that we as believers are now first and foremost citizens of heaven, a plan which was determined before the foundation of the world. That plan included us being gifted with the ability to live, even in this world, a life that is holy and blameless, because of what was done through the adoption by Christ Jesus. The love that was bestowed upon us by the finished work of Jesus also instills within us a praise to God for all the riches that love provides.

This is not a new plan, or an evolving plan. God has always had us on His mind. He knew even from the foundation of the world what we would be and what we would need. As a part of the Triune God, Jesus was willing and prepared to be the vehicle by which God’s plan for man would be complete. Just as God foreknew our need for Him, He knows every one of our needs while here on this earth. A a dual citizen of both heaven and earth, we can walk with freedom and liberty through this life pulling on the privileges of the throne! Do you think Prince Charles ever wonders whether England will back him up when he goes on trips around the world? He is as confident in Sierra Leone as he is in London. So too should we be as we walk this terrain, knowing that every step of our journey is backed up by reinforcements in heaven.
