Why Are you Surprised?

There are some things about us, as believers that amaze me. Why are we surprised when sinners acts like sinners? Why do we expect people to live by a moral compass who do not have a moral compass? Why all this hoop-la going on in our country over divided values when we are dealing with people who see life through all kinds of lenses? We live in a diverse society and as such we can expect diverse views. What we have to understand about a nation such as ours is that we cannot bury our heads in the sand, we have as much right as the next person to get our views out there in the marketplace and because of what we believe we know it can stand up to public scrutiny:

See what [an incredible] quality of love the Father has given (shown, bestowed on) us, that we should [be permitted to] be named and called and counted the children of God! And so we are! The reason that the world does not know (recognize, acknowledge) us is that it does not know (recognize, acknowledge) Him. 1 John 3;1 (AMP)

Our emphasis as believers should be is to envelop ourselves in this incredible truth that the God above all, the Creator of the Universe, the Father of us all has given us an "incredible quality of love". That love not only counted us who were not worthy to be counted worthy to become the children of God, but also has given us the same ability to love others, who are not worthy.  Instead of being surprised that the world does not receive us, for after all it did not recognize Him either. Nothing stopped our Lord from His mission – He came, He preached, performed miracles; He died, He rose again. He was not moved by public opinion or swayed by opposition so fierce that they were constantly trying to destroy him.

We should not be moved either. We, as the children of God will face opposition, rejection, even hostility. Yet the message we bring, is not one of hostility, it is one of peace, it is one of joy, it is a love story of "incredible" proportions. Let us not get bent out of shape over the way of the sinner, rather:

​Do not be overcome and conquered by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21 (AMP)
